3D and ME

Module 1 Essay and SCRUM

“Write about one of your favorite examples of digital 3D design, sculptures, or industrial design objects and why would it would be found in your high school or college in the OASIS.”

It’s challenging to choose a favourite! Some of the ones that stand out in my mind are from Chad Knight. For this, I’ll focus on his piece called ‘Forged.’ You can check out more of his work here.

Forged by Chad Knight

It features a head and neck rising out of water, with the face turned upward. These are made from white interconnecting lines. It has waves of pink ‘hairs’ flowing from it. This piece was intricately designed, bit by bit. This has layers of symbolism, colouring, and concept at play, creating a surreal piece of art.

I think this would be found in a school as an example of digital 3D design. It’s an inspirational piece. It shows one of the many avenues available through 3D design.

I’m excited to start learning 3D design. I’d like to explore its possibilities and see what I can do with it. Eventually I’ll incorporate 3D design into my art. I’d also like to look into creating 3D models for printing.

Autodesk, Blender, and Dimension are new to me. I look forward to learning new programs.

I’m also very curious about creating a digital 3D design from a physical object. I’ve got a few ideas, but don’t want to get ahead of myself. I’ve got a lot to learn, and I’m excited!
